Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? |
| |
Audio
Engineer for 27 years. Now specializing in In Ear wireless ear monitoring
applications. |
| What
comments do you have about the v-dosc system? |
| |
From my experience
I feel it is one of the best sound reinforcement systems commercially
available when flown properly by experienced technicians. The system
can affect the stage acoustics drastically when stacked on stage
and not elevated sufficiently.
I have used v-dosc for sidefills monitors and they performed spectacularly
well.

| How
was it like to work with MSI Japan? |
| |
It is always
been a good experience for me to work with msij. There is a high
level of professionalism within the company and a passion pursuing
the science of live audio.
|
| What
is your favorite console? and why? |
| |
My favorite consoles
are the ATI Paragon 2 and now recently the Yamaha PM1D. The Paragon
is the best sounding analogue console i've had experience with that
include the features I need to take my job to state of the art. The
Yamaha PM1D is a fantastic new tool that brings digital technology
to the road in a reliable format. |
| What
was the biggest challenge you had during a performance? How did you
resolve the problem? |
| |
Is
this from this last tour or forever. On the last EWF Tour in Japan.
The language barrier was the biggest challenge. Forever...There was
a show where I had to use the bathroom really badly but couldn't leave
my mixing console. I'll spare you the detail but it's possible to
discuss over 4 am noodles in Ropongi. |
| What
are your secrets to becoming a successful sound engineer for popular
artists? |
| |
There
is no secret and no substitute for seeing the big picture and paying
attention to detail. I would recommend listening to all types of music
and hear what the instruments really sound like. I've always had a
good system to reference off as a source. Knowing what music sounds
like has been better for me than knowing how the gear works. That's
not to say one doesn't need a working knowledge of the equipment because
this is necessary but can always be sorted out. Knowing what the music
is suppose to sound like and having the confidence to give the artist
what ever it is they need is the key to success for me. Good hair
also is important. |
| Any
comments for us? |
| |
MSIJ
has top quality equipment and a first rate engineering staff. I totally
appreciate the level of treatment I was afforded on my last trip working
in Japan. I feel inadequate because I don't speak your language and
feel the burden on myself not on my hosts. I wish you all the best. |
