"Mando Diao" FOH Sound Engineer ____Mr. Mattias Nybers

Mr. Mattias Nybers , MSI Japan Hitoshi , Mr. Patrik Heikinpieti
In our current interview, we would like to introduce Mr. Mattias Nybers, a sound engineer currently working with a Swedish Band, Mando Diao. This will be Mattias' 3rd performance in Japan. Mattias is currently a freelance engineer but was a former employee of a PA company, the Stockholm Audio. During Summer Sonic 2003, the debut of Mando Diao with Mattias was considered to be the most popular amongst all artists. We can still remember the overwhelm excitement of the fans in the Osaka venue. There was an incident during the show but that caused no distraction to Mattias; he maintained his composure and professionally delivered an outstanding mix. Matt, we look forward to seeing you again.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well I've been working as a sound engineer since 1991. I'm based in Stockholm Sweden. I've been working with Mando Diao since May 2003. The PA company that I work with most is Stockholm Audio. I really recommend them if your going to tour in Sweden. They also work with L` Acoustics as you at MSI do.
How was it like to work with MSI Japan? As a V-dosc Partner, Was there any difference between Stockholm Audio and MSI Japan?

Your Crew is great to work with. Very professional and hard working. It makes it very easy to tour and do good gigs!

How did MSI monitor engineer, Hitoshi Adachi do? Were you satisfied?
Mr. Adachi is a very good sound engineer and I'm proud to have worked with him and the rest of the crew. Thank you guys!
What comments do you have about the V-dosc system (even though you didn't use V-docs.)

I did not use your V dosc system this time but I used it at Summer Sonic and I work with the system in Sweden very much. I think it is the best PA on the market right now.

How is it working with Mando Diao?
They are great to work with. Except that they play a bit too loud but that's rock....
Out of the 5 different gigs in Japan, which venue was the best mixing sound for you ? And which was the most memorable show for you? Why?
Quattro Tokyo and Drum Logo in Fukuoka. Quattro Tokyo was the most memorable gig because of the great sounding ARCS and the audience was great !
During a day off or break time, did you buy or find something special or rare in Japan as a sound engineer?
No, I tried to get a pc sound card but did not find any good ones...
What is your favorite console? and why?
Yamaha PM1D. Because It's small for the big kind of mixer you get and it is easy to work on.
What is the number one difference between doing a gig in Japan compare to Sweden?
The organization and the very hi professional crew... And of course the wild crazy Crowd!
What are your secrets to becoming a successful sound engineer for popular artists?
Always be Serviced minded and know what your doing.
Any backstage talk you can tell us?
  Classified
Any comments for us?
Keep up the good work and come to Sweden!
What is your motto on being a sound engineer?
Be proud of your work but never be satisfied.
